There’s no denying it, backups are essential. We can even state that some physical items require “backups” (or clones/duplicates), such as keys.

On-site local backups
At Brontobytes, we previously only offered on-site local server backups (we still do and will continue to include that in our hosting plans). Local backups are essential and work reliably to restore websites. You can even restore your own files and databases in the included cPanel. Local on-site backup means that we use separate drives to store backups in the same server, while your live websites run on SSDs in RAID. So, if anything happens to the whole server, such as a fire, explosion, etc., then your files would be lost. We’ve never had an issue like that, but it’s always better to have a backup plan.
Introducing off-site cloud backups
Our new off-site backup system with Acronis Backup adds an extra layer of security to your website. Acronis is a Switzerland-based company and values privacy along with enterprise-level security. All backups are end-to-end encrypted. Your complete cPanel account (websites, emails, data, files, DNS settings, cron jobs, forwarders, filters, and everything in there) gets backed up daily with Acronis Backup. You can access it via cPanel to download or restore it. It is cloud-based and not in the same server room.
We have set up our off-site cloud backups in a way that allows us to have way more days, weeks, and months of backups. That’s a huge benefit for those relying on our hosting’s backup.
This is now available for both of our Web Hosting and Business Hosting plans.
